The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum will present a Speaker Series talk on this cataclysmic conflict titled “Ford at War: World War I” on Sunday, August 11 at 10 a.m. Using photographs and other historical material, museum Trustee Mike Skinner will explore the history of Henry Ford and Ford Motor Company based on the book, Ford: In the Service of America, by Tim O-Callahan. Skinner’s talk will cover topics including Henry Ford’s unsuccessful pacifist efforts to prevent war; the role of the Model T, T Trucks and Ford tractors in war operations; and the development of warfare technology such as the Eagle Boats, the Kettering Bug buzz bomb, aircraft engines and more. This event will take place on the first floor of the museum with coffee, juice and breakfast items served. Tickets are $20 per person or free for museum members(Members, call or email to placed on the Will Call list). Following the presentation, guests can add on a guided tour of the museum for an additional $10.
