Air sirens over cities, dwindling supplies, thousands forced to flee. The situation for civilians in Ukraine is worsening by the day. Russia’s invasion threatens to displace up to 7 million people and cause a humanitarian crisis for those left inside the country. Now, the United Nations is launching a flash humanitarian appeal for US$1.7 billion to deliver life-saving humanitarian support. These funds will go directly to providing shelter and reception centres, emergency cash assistance, child protection, gender-based violence services and much more for civilivians caught in and fleeing the conflict. World leaders must continue to push for strong sanctions and de-escalation with Russia, but while the invasion continues the world must do everything it can to help the people of Ukraine caught up in deadly conflict.
