What We Do

In 2012, as a Gift of Life transplant recipient, Aarolyn became a volunteer ambassador, teaching transplant candidates, recipients and caregivers about lifestyle changes that need to be followed. She offers support and understanding, she listens! Subsequently, she hears stories of lodging difficulties, problems maneuvering in and around Detroit, and tales of the overall stress of the transplant process.

As Aarolyn immersed herself in the world of transplant, she learned of dedicated transplant houses around the country. She visited the Mason House, in Atlanta, to learn about its inception and operation. As a result her idea was born – she would start a 'transplant house' in the Detroit area. Gathering information, by talking with directors and founders of transplant houses throughout the country, has been key to the development of her vision.

Now, in 2022, Aarolyns House of Hope is an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt organization that provides 'Baskets of Hope' to Detroit area transplant recipients, conducts monthly virtual 'Focus Group,' and collects data on housing experiences from transplant recipients and their caregivers through an on-going survey. The ultimate goal of Aarolyns House of Hope is to secure a brick-and-mortar home so she can provide lodging and support for the transplant community in and around the Detroit area.

Interesting Info

Providing 'Baskets of Hope,' gathering information from a focus group and conducting an ongoing survey is a way to set the stage for a great transplant house!
There are no transplant houses in the Detroit area - one is sorely needed!
"The house" will be a place to rest and sleep as well as a place to find support and understanding.
