What We Do
The mission of FMAR is: Protecting animals and residents by promoting a healthy and safe environment for all. FMAR is a shelter that brings in friendly, adoptable dogs and cats from other facilities and guardians who can no longer care for them. Once they arrive we make sure they are spay or neutered, tested, vaccinated and given all the medical care and love they need and desire. Once they are healthy and ready for a new home we put them up for adoption with the goal of finding them a new family that will love and care for them the rest of their lives.
Sometimes that home is the shelter where we do our best to make sure they are loved and cared for by wonderful volunteers and veterinarians.
We are also the hold facility for dogs that are lost in our township, with the goal of helping the animals of our community reconnect with their families, even if that family turns out to be a new family we find for them. We pride ourselves on giving our dogs and cats the best medical care and love they need and deserve.
We also have a "trap/neuter/return (TNR) program for community cats who need to be cared for but are not adoptable. We trap them in humane "live" traps, have them spay/neutered and give them back to caregivers who feed and care for them in colonies where they feel safe.
FMAR is blessed to be able to serve our community in a small way that we hope makes a huge impact on the animals who live here. We all deserve to be loved and cared for especially the animals who literally count on us to care for and love them.
