What We Do

HOPE Shelters is a homeless shelter than does not exclude people who have bad backgrounds or sobriety issues (low-barrier shelter). Case managers and sobriety coaches are on site to help guests make a plan of success. HOPE Shelters provides safe and judgment-free shelter, innovative programs, and public advocacy to end homelessness.  In 1999 HOPE Shelters was the first low-barrier shelter in the area and remains one of very few. In 2015 HOPE Shelters opened the first Recuperative Shelter in the state of Michigan and today is held as an example by National Healthcare for the Homeless.

Interesting Info
  • HOPE Shelters is the only "low-barrier" shelter in Oakland County (we do not exclude people based on sobriety or background checks).
  • HOPE Shelters serves 75 guests each night with more than 200 guests per year exiting the shelter to a place they can call home -- and keep as their home.
  • HOPE Shelters is building a new shelter to be a place of healing and rebuilding hope.
