Brilliant Detroit

Volunteer Opportunity:
Annual Holiday Toy & Winter Clothing Drive

This opportunity has passed.

We've started collections for our annual Holiday Drives!

We want to ensure that the Brilliant Detroit families have a safe and magical holiday season. With this in mind, we are asking our community to donate new and gently used winter clothing as well as new, unwrapped children's gifts for ages 0-8. Since children grow so quickly, our families are in need of warm winter gear each year. We also like to celebrate our youths' accomplishments throughout the year by giving them a fun holiday gift. We will distribute the donated items at our neighborhood hubs to the families that we serve. If it is of interest to you, it may be possible to support the distributions themselves as well.

We are asking that all donations be received by December 1 to give us adequate time to distribute goods to our sites. Please use this link to schedule a donation drop-off after registering here. We are asking volunteers to schedule a drop-off time and date with us at the time of registration.  If you are not able to drop off the collected items between these dates, please let us know and we can look to make an alternative arrangement.

Please note the following:

  • Clothing items can be new or gently used, gifts must be new and unwrapped
  • Clothing & toys should be for newborn children through 8-year-olds (the primary age range that Brilliant Detroit serves)
  • We are also accepting donations of gift-wrapping supplies (bows, paper, labels, tape, etc)
  • Please use this link to set up a drop-off time with you when responding to your inquiry

Want to get even more involved? Consider hosting a drive to collect the items listed below! You are welcome to collect winter clothes, gifts, or a combination of both. When responding to this post, please let us know what types of items you hope to collect.
