Overview: Volunteer Docents play a vital role in enhancing the experience of visitors during the Birmingham House Tour. As a docent, you will serve as a knowledgeable guide, providing insights into the history, architecture, and unique features of each home on the tour. Your friendly demeanor, passion for sharing information, and ability to engage with diverse audiences will contribute to the success of this event.

Responsibilities:

  1. House Tour Guide: Lead guided tours through assigned homes on the Birmingham House Tour route, providing visitors with information about the architecture, design elements, and historical significance of each property.
  2. Knowledge Sharing: Offer engaging narratives and anecdotes to enrich visitors' understanding and appreciation of the homes, neighborhoods, and local history.
  3. Visitor Engagement: Interact with visitors in a welcoming and approachable manner, answering questions, and fostering a positive experience for all attendees.
  4. Safety and Security: Ensure the safety and security of the homes and visitors by adhering to tour guidelines, monitoring crowd flow, and reporting any concerns to the event organizers.
  5. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow docents, event staff, and homeowners to coordinate tour logistics and ensure a seamless visitor experience.
