Camp Talahi Nature and Retreat Center

We have many positions to volunteer in!! 

Board Member: Board members are in charge of the governance of the camp including fundraising, budgets, programming, schedules, promotion and long term startegic planning for the camp. The board meets virtually once a month. There is an virtual annual meeting each year in October and board members are encouraged to volunteer at camp throughtout the summer. 

Camp Deans: Our Camp Deans plan and implement a week of camp for a chosen age group. We have we long camps for K-2 graders, 3-5 graders, 6-8  graders and 9-11 graders. Our campers ages are based on the grade they are coming out of the previous school year. We provide curriculum that the deans can use and reference while they are planning the week. They will work closely with the chaplain for the same week to plan meaningful programming and activities. Deans must be at least 18 and/or graduated high school. 

Camp Chaplains: Our camp chaplains work closely with the weeks dean to plan camp programming based on the theme of the summer. The camp provides a themed curriculum for the chaplains to use and reference. The chaplains are responsible for the more intimate and self reflecitons portions and activities of the camp. Chaplains are also there to be a supportive entitiy and listening ear for any campers or volunteers that may need addtional support, conflict resolution or spiritual guidance. 

Camp Counselors: Our counselors are the volunteers that get to work with our campers the closest by staying in the cabins with the campers making sure they are always safe, following boundaries and staying on task. They are also there to help lead activities and discussions when needed. Counselors must be 18 and/or graduated from high school and must be at least 5 years older than the possible oldest kid at camp. This means for our 6-8 grade camp counselors must be 20+ years old and for 9-11 grade camp counselors must be 23+ years old. 

Site Work Camp Volunteers: We are a seasonal camp so much upkeep and repairs are often needed at the start of the season and throughout the summer months. We also rent the site for the summer so all of our belongings need unpacked and organized at the beginning of the season and packed up and organized at the end of the season. We are alwasy in need of volunteers to come up before and during our sessions to help with a variety of needed maintence and cleaning tasks.
