COMMUNITY RESILIENCE ACTION TEAM
We’re looking for 10 volunteers to create and engage in activities such as community crisis planning, education, and build community cohesion to ensure long-term resilience.
Background: For the past ten years, Highland Park and the surrounding area have experienced a disturbing increase in mass power outages due to poor grid infrastructure that cannot withstand severe weather events, exacerbated in part by climate change. In addition to our efforts to restore street lights in our community, Soulardarity has been working with community partners and coalitions to advocate for and provide resources to help residents prepare for and respond to these events, such as distributing resilience kits and promoting the use of community solar.
Who are we looking for? We’re looking for volunteers who are passionate about helping residents in need through direct community aid, love to educate others, and have a vision for making their community self-sustaining and stronger in the face of crises.
What will we be doing together? Volunteers will be asked to participate in a survey conversation with Rafael over the phone, in person, or online. Additionally, you will have the option to share your written thoughts and responses through a form. This will give you the opportunity to share your ideas and thoughts on how the needs of Highland Park could be addressed by Soulardarity and the Community Resilience Team before we meet together as a group.
When will this group meet? We are looking to recruit this committee immediately, with our collaborative work to begin by sharing and creating together opportunities to build community resilience!
How do I sign up? Please fill out the interest form and Rafael, our Resilience Projects Coordinator will reach back out to you within a few days. For questions please reach out to Rafael Mojica at rafael@soulardarity.com.
