D House of Angels is seeking a Volunteer CPA (Certified Public Accountant) to provide expertise and support in financial management and accounting practices. As a Volunteer CPA, you will play a vital role in ensuring the organization's financial health, transparency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to fulfill our mission of supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and oversight on financial matters, including budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls, to ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability.
- Review and analyze financial statements, budgets, and financial data to identify areas for improvement and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Advise the executive team and board of directors on financial strategies, risk management, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and grant proposals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and best practices to strengthen financial management processes.
- Conduct periodic reviews and audits of financial records, transactions, and procedures to identify and address any discrepancies or irregularities.
- Provide training and support to staff and volunteers on financial management principles, accounting software, and reporting requirements.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and nonprofit financial management practices to ensure compliance and adaptability.
- Participate in board meetings, committee meetings, and strategic planning sessions as needed to provide financial expertise and insights.
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and compliance requirements for tax-exempt organizations.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to the mission and values of D House of Angels and sensitivity to issues of domestic violence and sexual assault.
