ENERGY DEMOCRACY ACTION TEAM / ENDEM ACTION TEAM
We’re looking for 3-4 volunteers to help us lead monthly action team meetings that focus on advocating for energy democracy.
Background:Over the past 12 years, Soulardarity’s work has expanded beyond just solar streetlight installation. We understand that the issue of energy goes beyond just streetlights and is a structural issue that has many intersections including race, economic status, and ability. So we’ve made it our mission to collectively advocate for an energy system that is made by and for those who are most impacted by energy burden, specifically low-income Black, Indigenous, & People of Color (BIPOC) folks based in Highland Park. Due to this growth we need your help to ensure we can continue to build a power system that is clean, equitable, and affordable!
Who are we looking for?We’re looking for volunteers who are creative thinkers, social justice advocates, and can help us put pressure on DTE and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) while building community with those most impacted by energy burden.
What will we be doing together?Volunteers will be asked to join 1 hour planning meetings to create engaging agendas for our monthly energy democracy action team meetings as well as co-facilitate when needed. You’ll support with reaching out to Soulardarity members and encouraging them to RSVP for and attend the EnDem meetings. Volunteers will also be tasked with supporting recruitment of new EnDem action team members.
When will this group meet?We are recruiting on a rolling basis. So if this work interests you please join us! If there are limited parts of this work that you can do because of low capacity, that’s ok! We’d still be happy to have your support in any way you can, as long as it aligns with the group's goal. Additionally, we’d be more than happy to support your growth and development so you have the skills needed to be the best volunteer you can! The EnDem Action Group typically meets monthly on Monday via Zoom.
