St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center

Volunteer Opportunity:
In Person Tutoring - Adult GED and Children's Program
I'm Interested!

St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center (SVSF) offers services to the community through basic skill-building and academic enhancement for at-risk children and adults. These programs are designed to help build self-sufficiency skills for academic and employment success, personal achievement and dignity.

St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center's Adult GED Program provides free individualized assistance to adults in preparation for the High School Equivalency/GED exam and for ABE students.

Children in our Program improve on average between half to a full grade level per semester. Volunteers act as one-on-one or small group tutors for children in grades 1-6.
Tasks will include reading and language art activities and helping children with basic math.
All lessons, worksheets, learning games, and materials are prepared by staff and ready for the volunteer tutor and student to work on together.

Our FREE programs are designed to break through the barriers to education that many residents in our area face. Will you help our students? Volunteer when you can, daily, weekly, monthly.

We continually accept volunteers. All experience levels welcome, we provide orientation/training.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Completed volunteer application
  • COVID Vaccination record (two vaccinations required, boosters are encouraged)
