Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit

Volunteer Opportunity:
Read to Rover

This opportunity has passed.

Read to Rover is an exciting program open to children of all reading levels. Reading to animals gives children an opportunity to gain confidence and practice their reading skills, while comforting shelter animals.

During the half hour session, readers will work one-on-one with an adult volunteer to practice their reading skills. Readers will have the opportunity to read with an animal in a meet and greet room and have hands on interaction with the animal while reading. A trained adult volunteer will accompany them at all times. The cost is $10.

The Friends do have a small supply of reading books to choose from. You are welcome to bring your own books, and encouraged to bring a book from home as a back-up to ensure you have material that matches your reading level.
