The SAY Detroit Play Center at Lipke Park is an educational and recreational center that caters to youth, ages 8-18, to improve their community, starting with themselves. Students in the afterschool program commit to their studies and enjoy first-rate academic, athletic, and arts programs in partnership with various community partners, including Detroit's major sports teams.
The Event
The SAY Detroit Play Center is excited to announce our first Summer Showcase Experience Festival!
This is an event to celebrate our youth and give them a chance to showcase what they've been working on during the 2023-2024 school year and throughout the 2024 SDPC Summer Camp which will take place at the SAY Detroit Play Center. This event will also give various Detroit artists a chance to show their talents.
Time Commitment
The Summer Showcase Experience Festival will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 2 pm – 8 pm with plenty of opportunities to get involved. We prefer a minimum commitment of 2.5 hours. Volunteers will be needed to assist with prep and decorations, carrying out activities, guiding visitors and guests, and clean-up both: after the activities and finally, after the festival wraps up.
Expected Attendance: 300 Attendees
Please join us and our partners in celebrating our talented youth as they display their art, films, various digital works, dance skills, singing skills, and a wonderful mosaic crafted by the students, for the students.
Although this opportunity does not require a background check, anyone interested in volunteering further for the SAY Detroit Play Center must pass a background check in order to volunteer for other opportunities.
