Neighborhood House

Volunteer Opportunity:
Stamp Out Hunger
I'm Interested!

Neighborhood House is excited to once again be participating in the National Letter Carriers’ Annual “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive on Saturday, May 11, 2024. This event is the nation’s largest one-day food drive collection. All food collected in the Rochester area that day will be donated directly to the Neighborhood House Food Pantry.

If you’re a resident living in Rochester, Rochester Hills or Oakland Township and receive your mail through the Rochester Post Office, here’s how you can get involved on Saturday, May 11

  • Donate non-perishable canned food items. Leave your donation near your mailbox in the morning on May 11th. Look out for a mailer with a grocery bag and instructions in your mailbox the week of May 6th. If you do not receive a mailer, you can still donate by putting items in a bag of your choice. Click here to view the Neighborhood House Food Pantry wish list. Your letter carrier will pick up the items you leave.
  • Volunteer to pick up donations alongside the letter carriers, drive trucks filled with food donations, load or unload food to and from trucks or sort items during and after the event.
  • Spread the word to friends and family in the area!

All food collected stays local, helping to feed families facing hardship right here in our community. Last year, the Neighborhood House Food Pantry provided over 330,000 meals to 528 families.

"Food donations from Stamp Out Hunger last year sustained our pantry for two to three months," explained Debra Cole, manager of the Neighborhood House Food Pantry.
“Stamp Out Hunger plays a crucial role in our ability to assist those in need. We encourage adding a few cans to each donation bag to extend assistance to more families in the neighborhood.”

With food prices soaring, families already struggling face even greater challenges. Neighborhood House has witnessed a surge in demand at the Food Pantry and anticipates this trend to continue.

Thank you for you for helping our neighbors in need
