Volunteer Opportunity:
A Time to Help Mother Batie's Kitchen with a Spring Cleaning and Spruce Up

This opportunity has passed.

Since Mother Batie’s Kitchen was first restored operationally and transformed in 2011, it has expanded under the care of her grandson Antwan Price to serve nearly 100 meals every day. It has also added free child care to help parents in its surrounding community.

A Time to Help volunteers will be returning after 13 years to once again assist with a spring spruce up for the play area of the daycare room, yard cleaning, and flower planting.

Note, this is the first project for our new volunteer coordinator Wendy Jackson, and we hope you will welcome her as project lead!

Volunteers Needed: 15

Parking: Free street parking.

Attire/Other Info: Please dress for outdoor cleaning and gardening. Bring your own gardening gloves. Tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Event is weather-permitting only and will be postponed if there is rain.

This is a registration-only event through Bloomerang Volunteer – please be sure to sign up and select the shift in STEP 2 of registration. Please don’t attend and unregister if you don’t feel well.

NOTE: Volunteer event registration has moved to a new platform: Bloomerang Volunteer. This new platform will be used for all volunteer opportunities with SAY Detroit moving forward. Bloomerang Volunteer is a pretty robust platform and there’s a lot of cool little things we’ll be able to do together — and, it has a mobile app! If you’d like video overviews, you can watch this. If you like to dig into FAQs, you can get started here.
