The Association of Chinese Americans, Inc. (ACA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1972. It is the founding chapter of the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA), which currently has over 50 chapters and affiliates across the United States. Over the course of five decades, ACA has strived to promote the general welfare of Chinese Americans and the Asian-Pacific American community by supporting youth education, enhancing the lives of older adults and adults with disabilities, and reducing health disparities.
Through its three service centers in Detroit, Madison Heights, and Canton, ACA plays a leading role in enriching the lives of Asian-Pacific Americans in the Metro-Detroit region. The organization is one of several entities that serve the Chinese and Asian Pacific American communities, providing year-round programs that include social services, educational classes, preventive health care, and cultural events. ACA also offers ESL classes, Medicaid/Medicare assistance, health seminars, recreation and exercise activities, choir classes, Tai Chi, naturalization services, social work services, health screenings, and more at its three service centers. ACA’s programs are specially targeted to reach youth, seniors, and low-income individuals and families. Through its daily services, the organization directly reaches more than 5,000 people per year.
