The Bottomless Toy Chest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization devoted to delivering empowering toys, craft projects, and interactive activities to hospitalized pediatric oncology and hematology patients. Our mission is to lift the spirits and promote a positive state of mind in young cancer patients by providing them with engaging, empowering activities while they are going through treatment. We deliver toys and smiles year round to the following hospitals: Beaumont Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Michigan – Detroit & Troy, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Ascension Meade Cancer Clinic, U-M C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, MSU Pediatric Hem./Onc. Clinic, Sparrow Hospital, Bronson Methodist Hospital, Covenant Health Care, Memorial University Medical Center in GA, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Texas Children’s Hospital, ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital, Kentucky Children's Hospital - DanceBlue Hematology Oncology Clinic and The University of Kansas Cancer Center. This year we will deliver over 30,000 toys and activities through our seven key programs: INPATIENT TOY PROGRAM: We deliver gift wrapped toys and activities to children who are hospitalized and undergoing cancer treatment. OUTPATIENT TOY PROGRAM: We provide loads of small toys for kids who are getting needle pokes and other anxiety causing procedures. TONS OF TOYS HOLIDAY EVENTS: Our volunteer Elf Squad makes a special delivery of toys to patients and siblings in oncology clinics during the Holiday Season. RED CARPET MOVIE EVENT: We give patients and families the star treatment at a local movie theater with a private viewing of a current film, followed by a pizza party, crafts, photo booth and other fun surprises. HOSPITAL SURVIVOR CELEBRATIONS: We supply hundreds of toys and stuffed animals to area hospitals that put on summer parties for current and past patients. TOY-TACULAR: This is a special program where every single child in the hospital receives a toy. SUPERHERO DAY: Our volunteers dress as superheroes and deliver toys, apparel, and other accessories to the superhero patients we serve.
