Cadillac Urban Gardens
What We Do
Cadillac Urban Gardens’ mission is to create equitable access to culturally relevant foods by fostering multigenerational knowledge and leadership in Detroit.
We do this at the intersection of 3 goals:
1. Provide a space for communities to come together to grow produce and promote food sovereignty;
2. Create placed based intergenerational learning and empowerment opportunities including but not limited to activities, programs, employment, and services;
3. Serve as a research-driven and data-informed living learning laboratory.
Interesting Info
- Located on the former Executive Parking lot for the Cadillac Clark Street Cadillac automobile plant, we are the largest raised bed garden in Southeast Michigan.
- Annually we distribute over 2.5 tons of free, fresh produce to Detroit residents.
- 24 of our youth volunteers and staff have pursued college degrees and professional careers in fields related to the environment and urban agriculture.
