Christ Child Society of Detroit
Christ Child Society believes that nothing is ever too much to do for a child. Society members and volunteers support 3 major programs, all of which improve the lives of children in metro Detroit. Our main program is the Christ Child House, located on Joy Rd., in Detroit, MI. This house is home to young boys aged 5-16. These boys come to our doorsteps from broken families. Christ Child House is a safehaven for this group of abused and neglected children. The Layette and Literacy programs also support children who are in need. Volunteers meet twice a month to package layettes for newborn babies. Each layette comes equipped with essentials to keep a newborn baby strong and healthy. Our Literacy program volunteers meet once a month at Walt Whitman Elemantary school in Pontiac, MI. Program volunteers read to 1st and 2nd grade students, help conduct an arts and craft project, and end the day with a nice snack!
- Over 3,000 children served at the Christ Child House
