Faith Works is all about life changing projects! We are a group of men, women and young adults who volunteer their time and talent to provide necessary home repair, maintenance and modifications for people in need. Our focus… to help financially distressed single moms, widows, elderly, veterans and the disabled; primarily in Oakland and Western Macomb counties. Our goal.... to improve the health and safety of their living environment, and to provide much needed HOPE! Join Us… Join our Journey!!!! The number of our neighbors who simply have fallen on hard times is staggering! Whether it’s due to illness, death of a partner, divorce or job loss, the need for the type of assistance Faith Works provides continues to grow. Through the skilled trade, construction talent and time of the Faith Works volunteer membership, qualified recipients are given hope and assurance of a long-term solution to costly home repairs. Jump in on a project for an hour, a day or more… Don’t have any construction skills, no problem! We can and will use your help! And… Not only will you experience helping change the life of someone else, but your life will be changed too! No time? You can still help! Faith Works provides the labor, but we are dependent on the generosity of donors to pay for project materials. (We do not move forward on a project until funding is secured) Consequently, there are times when much needed help has to be put on hold waiting for funding. Materials for a typical small project range from $300 - $600, major modifications can run as much as $10,000 or more. Since Faith Works has no paid employees or overhead, you are assured every dollar donated goes directly to purchasing materials to help those in need! Consider the individual who now is wheelchair bound. The need for a handicap ramp is vital for him to be able to safely maneuver in and out of his home, and so important to his independence! The need for handicap ramps has sky rocketed. At any given time Faith Works has 5-6 ramp requests. The cost of handicap ramps range between $500-$1500! A leaky faucet left unfixed can lead to mold issues, not replacing a furnace can lead to frozen pipes or a temporary fix using an electric or propane heater which creates a safety hazard. Consider the single mom with an 11 year old son who weighs over 300 lbs and struggles with a severe eating disorder. Since she cannot lift him and the bathroom is not wheelchair accessible, he wears diapers. A project such as this involves creating a handicap accessible home, including a bathroom remodel, modifications and updates to the kitchen and other functional modifications to the home. At any given time, Faith Works has 2-3 project requests like this! Check us out….
