The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW), an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, stabilizes and empowers Michigan families, keeping them healthy, safe, and warm. Since its inception in 1985, THAW has distributed over $250 million in assistance to 300,000 Michigan households. THAW provides energy efficiency education to empower families with tools that save energy and money. THAW serves all 83 counties in Michigan and provides assistance for gas, electricity, water, and deliverable fuels such as propane and wood. By keeping people safe and warm in their homes, THAW helps avoid community problems such as homelessness. Children are able to attend school and do their homework without disruption. Fires, illness, and even death are prevented by avoiding the use of dangerous sources of energy. For more information about THAW, visit https://thawfund.org.
