What We Do

The Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center (ISAIC) is a national nonprofit institute of apparel and textile manufacturing that works toward sustainable and profitable domestic manufacturing. In the process, our goal is to redefine the future of work by putting people trained in advanced and emerging manufacturing technologies at the forefront of sustainable soft goods production with a commitment to the wellbeing of our team, partners, community, and planet.

The manufacturing of softs goods, especially apparel, accessories, and footwear, is one of the most environmentally destructive and exploitative industries on the globe. It is the second most polluting and built on the backs of a 75-80% female labor force who are regularly mistreated and underpaid.

We are committed to facilitating and proliferating measurable change. By convening and piloting new solutions while training people into advanced jobs, we are able to speed the adoption of ethical, sustainable manufacturing.

  • Replacing exploitation with the empowerment of underserved communities
  • Testing and verifying manufacturing solutions that lower waste, reduce environmental impact, and prove commercial viability
  • Demonstrating that equitable, inclusive treatment of workers creates healthy lives, healthy industry, and healthy planet

Interesting Info
  • We are the only training center in the nation with a nationally recognized proprietary curriculum in industrial sewing and production.

  • ISAIC's mission is aligned with 13 of 17 United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
