Our Mission
New Detroit is a coalition of leaders working to achieve racial understanding and racial equity in Metropolitan Detroit. New Detroit dismantles racism in the Metro Detroit region by moving hearts and minds and changing policies and systems. Our work includes education, trainings, services, research, and programs to fight racism at the personal, institutional, and systemic levels.
Our Theory of Change
Racism remains a persistent problem in our country. To undo years of deeply embedded perceptions, beliefs, policies, and systems, it is critical that people understand the root causes and implications of racism, what actions and policies are needed to undo racism and achieve racial equity, and how to act individually and collectively to effect that change.
Our Just Institute
New Detroit's Just Institute provides training, consulting, and collective impact programs to educate people and institutions and guide them to action individually and collectively.
