The overarching mission of Sistahs Reachin' Out (SRO) is to effectuate economic equality for underserved, under-resourced residents and families in Detroit, MI. We do this by promoting increased access to higher education, transformative employment and entrepreneurial opportunities -- three research-proven pathways for escaping low-wage living and poverty and achieving economic mobility and security. To meet our mission SRO, hosts a number of community events and initiatives throughout the year. Some of those events are as follows:
Spring into Self-sufficiency Luncheon series is an annual effort aimed at helping low-income single parent-led families throughout Wayne County, Michigan achieve better health and wealth outcomes via informative and engaging interactions with local health and wealth professionals.
The Career and College Access Center (CACAC) is a tech hub for residents in Detroit's District #2. Through the CACAC, residents participate in upskilling and collaborative learning opportunities that facilitate career and college readiness through increased access to digital technologies.
Pathfinder is a year-round, comprehensive coaching, mentoring and direct assistance program that prepares low-income, single parents in Detroit to pursue educational and career pathways that can facilitate a move from low-wage living and poverty toward economic security and mobility.
A National Day of Service Family Financial Fitness Fair is a citywide effort with an aim to spark lifelong financial behaviors and habits that can facilitate a shift in the socio-economic status underserved, under-resourced residents and families in our Detroit community.
