Soaring Dreams
Soaring Dreams Retail Program is a Thrift, Gift and Ice Cream shop providing an adaptable workplace for adults with special needs. We focus on acceptance and inclusion within the community while improving self-esteem by training individuals in all aspects of a retail environment. These young adults with varying disabilities assist with sorting, pricing and displaying items that have been donated to the thrift shop. We focus on improving communication skills with customers as well as each other. We also manage micro businesses within the resale shop: Handmade chocolate goodies and dog treats. We also make custom gift items and seasonal decor. The program focuses on:
- Skill Development: Equip participants with essential retail skills, including customer service, inventory management, and point-of-sale operations.
- Community Integration: Foster social connections by encouraging interactions with customers, colleagues, and the broader community.
- Customer Service: Participants learn effective communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
Retail Operations: Training covers inventory management, merchandising, and cash handling.
