What We Do

The most unique aspect about Teacher’s Pet is that the programming is both human and canine centric; building relationships for future successes. The unfortunate reality is that our dogs and kids usually have similar backgrounds that include trauma and/or neglect. You would be surprised at how many ways they can mirror each other. By pairing them together, they help each other heal in ways that can be challenging in other training or clinical settings. They simply get each other and understand their needs. That is when the magic happens. Teacher’s Pet facilitates several programs throughout the Metro Detroit area; including students from Neil Reid, Children's Village, and Crossroads for Youth.

Interesting Info
  • Since our inception, we have worked with 2400 youth and 3400 dogs
  • Our goal is to open up a facility that has dogs kennels and a learning space where we could incorporate vocational, educational, and therapeutic components.
