What We Do

United Community Family Services (Chaldean American Ladies of Charity) serves over 12,000 people from low to median income households in Michigan annually with the vast majority being immigrants, refugees, and asylees.  From the beginning, clients are active participants in determining their goals and developing their plans for success. We work with children, adults, and seniors, customizing our programs to appropriately support each family and individual. Over 60 years since its founding, UCFS continues to carry out its mission of providing programs that guide, support, and empower individuals to achieve self-sufficiency with dignity and hope.

UCFS supports families holistically with wrap-around services so that they can thrive in every area of their life. Focus areas include:

  • Education

  • Food insecurity

  • Basic needs for newly arrived refugees

  • Employment services

  • Maternal health education

  • Youth sports

  • Cooking and nutrition education classes

  • Citizenship and integration services

  • Elderly refugee prorgam
