Leader Dogs for the Blind

Volunteer Opportunity:
Breeding Dog Assistant

This opportunity has passed.

Volunteers provide assistance with the day-to-day care of dogs (all ages) boarding at our campus and breeding stock dogs. Tasks include cleaning, monitoring and documenting canine activity/behavior, laundering towels and bedding, and providing stress relief. Volunteers may be asked to assist paid team members with feeding, medicating and collect stool samples. The dogs are not always well-behaved and can be "mouthy." There is a risk of being jumped on (adult dogs reach up to 80 lbs.), therefore, all volunteers must be strong, capable, confident and have excellent balance. Handling our dogs is not like handling family pets; volunteers are required to handle the dogs according to Leader Dog guidelines.

The shift times will vary depending on availability!
