Do you love puppies? Do you want to make a difference in the life of a person who is blind or visually impaired? Then being a Puppy Raiser for Leader Dogs for the Blind might be for you!
Puppy raisers foster a puppy from age 8 weeks to about 12 months. They teach the puppy basic house manners and expose it to lots of different environments. Following a very detailed training manual, puppy raisers have weekly and monthly training goals. And there is always time for fun! Each raiser is supported by a Leader Dog team member and a volunteer puppy counselor. At about one year, the puppy returns Leader Dog to begin it's formal guide dog training.
Your commitment and love for these puppies set them on the path to becoming a cherished and highly skilled guide dog and companion for someone who is blind or visually impaired.
