Be a part of changing someone's life - raise a puppy for Leader Dogs for the Blind. Volunteers raise puppies in their homes, teaching them basic obedience. Puppies are approximately 7 weeks old when they are assigned to a puppy raiser. At around 12-15 months they are returned to Leader Dog to begin their formal guide dog training. Attend an informational virtual orientation to learn more. Orientations are held once a month. Being a puppy raiser is one of the most rewarding experience a volunteer can have!
These puppies are here on campus waiting for their raisers!
There is no waiting to pick up the puppy once your volunteer application is approved.
These puppies can be raised as a pass-along meaning you’d raise the puppy for 6 months before passing along to another raiser in Sept/Oct.
Information on the pass-along program is on our website here: https://www.leaderdog.org/volunteer/raise-a-puppy/puppy-raising-options/
