SandCastles Camp is a three-day, two-night camp experience for children and teens who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Many of our kids look forward to camp all year, and you can see how much it means to them by their smiles as they spend time in nature, participate in grief activities, eat s’mores by the bonfire, and most importantly, heal on their grief journey.  Volunteering at our SandCastles Camp is one way to contribute your time and support for children if you are unable to make the one-year commitment to biweekly programs. Camp is typically held in August.  Camp facilitators work as a team to create a safe, supportive place for grieving children to heal. Facilitators work with other volunteers to lead SandCastles grief support groups in activities to help the youth in our program learn healthy ways to express their emotions, memorialize the person/people who died in their lives, and normalize the grief experience with peers who understand. Training is provided.  Camp Facilitators are also required to attend an all-camp training prior to the weekend of camp.
