Winning Futures
We help Metro Detroit students by providing the motivation, support, and skills needed to graduate from high school and become self-reliant adults. Career mentors are volunteers who coach our students as they navigate through the program. Sessions are held at a participating school, during regular school hours, and in a classroom with staff, teachers, students, and other career mentors present. Each session starts with a staff member who teaches a lesson. Then career mentors participate with students in a fun and structured activity that reinforces the lesson. Topics include career exploration, job and life skills development, academic and career planning, and goal setting. Sessions are held two or three times a month from November through May. Career mentors receive training before the program year starts and support before and during every session. 90 percent of our students are people of color. Participating schools are in Detroit, Harper Woods, Warren, Sterling Heights, and Pontiac. Get more information or apply online at Winning Futures.org.
