Preparing to Do Good on Giving Tuesday
As the holiday season approaches and you look forward to the deals offered on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday to help treat yourself and your loved ones, don’t forget to support local nonprofits on Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is celebrated each year in the United States on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It marks the beginning of a season of giving. You can use Giving Tuesday as an opportunity to learn about and contribute to the good being done in your community.
Volunteer Spotlight: Quentin Todd
As a neuroscience student finishing his first year at Wayne State University, Quentin Todd knew it would be essential for him to build up volunteer experience in order to pursue his eventual goal of applying to medical school. Enter: SHARE Detroit. Quentin first learned about SHARE Detroit a few months earlier, so he already knew the perfect place to start looking for his summer plans. Due to the simplicity of our website, Quentin was able to sort through a variety of volunteer options in order to find the opportunity that was best for him.

Nonprofits Helping Moms Feel Beautiful in Detroit
As we mentioned last month in our newsletter, SHARE Detroit’s executive director Janette Philips made an incredible connection between two of our nonprofit partners: A Beautiful Me and A Girl Like Me. I was able to speak to Karen Palka of A Beautiful Me and Tyra Moore of A Girl Like Me to learn more about what led up to their meeting and what came of it.
