January 24th is the International Day of Education! We do not think we have to impress upon our SHARE Detroit readers how important education is–whether it be through grade school, college, work in a trade, or participation in a hobby. This date is a day to reflect upon our own experiences with education and think of people around the world or in our community who are still striving for access to education.

We’re midway through August which means teachers, children, and families are getting ready for another school year! Our partners here at SHARE Detroit are also gearing up to host back-to-school events and are putting out calls for community members to shop their wish lists to help them provide much needed school supplies to children in need. Providing students with classroom essentials first and foremost eases the financial strain of back-to-school shopping on families.
