Some call it stories. Others call it a blog. But here you will find nuggets of goodness to use and -- you guessed it -- SHARE!
National Give Something Away Day
“No one has ever become poor by giving.” - Anne Frank
July 15th is National Give Something Away Day! There are several action points you can take on this day. SHARE Detroit’s four pillars of giving are: donating money, volunteering time, attending an event, and shopping for items from nonprofit wish lists.
COTS Begins a New Chapter With a New Name.
Starting July 1, 2022, we're beginning a new chapter with a brand new name. No longer will we be known as the Coalition On Temporary Shelter. We're now officially: COTS.
We've come a long way from our 1982 start as a coalition of parties focused mainly on homeless single men. COTS is now an independent organization that supports families seeking housing stability, whole-spectrum health, career development and so much more through our Passport To Self-Sufficiency™ framework.
Wrapping up Pride Month!
“We are not what other people say we are. We are who we know ourselves to be, and we are what we love. That’s OK. You’re not alone in who you are. There are people out there who will love and support you. It’s about doing the work and believing and finding those people—if they’re not in your local community, there’s somebody online that you can talk to for support.” - Laverne Cox
Pride for the LGBTQIA+ community is not a new phenomenon.
