A Safe Space for Growth and Leadership

Arab Women United was founded to address a gap in culturally responsive support systems for Arab women. Many face challenges related to identity, mental health, language barriers, or domestic struggles—all often faced in silence. As an Iraqi Arab American and first-generation college student, the founder knew firsthand the need for a safe space where women could find community, resources, and the tools to thrive.

Since its inception, the organization has offered leadership workshops, mentorship programs, mental health resources, and professional development services like resume-building and LinkedIn guidance. What started as intimate gatherings has evolved into large-scale events, collaborations with chambers of commerce, and even a Wayne State University chapter. With growing demand, Arab Women United has begun offering revenue-generating services to help sustain its mission.

The work of Arab Women United changes lives. One member, a young woman who had just left an abusive marriage, found herself isolated and overwhelmed. She had nowhere to turn—until she found Arab Women United. Through the organization’s network, she received emotional support, career guidance, and even a scholarship opportunity.
