How to Volunteer as a Group
Looking to make a day out of volunteering with your friends? Or maybe your children? SHARE Detroit’s website makes it easy to find group volunteer opportunities near you!
The first thing you’ll need to do is head to the volunteer page on our website by clicking “Volunteer” on our navigation bar or homepage. From there, the first place you’ll want to look is the sidebar where you can see a menu with options to refine your search. Simply click the category that says “Group Size” and select the number of people you’re looking to volunteer with!
Now, from here you have a lot of different options for refining your search based on what type of nonprofit you’d like to work with and where you’d like to work from. For instance, if you’re looking for an activity you want to complete at home, you may select “Work From Anywhere” from the “Volunteer Setting” category.
Doing this might give you opportunities like this one from New Day Foundation with directions for what they need and what they’d like you to do after you’ve done it!
But if you are looking to get out there, you can use the sidebar categories to adjust your parameters until you find the right volunteer opportunity for your group.
When you find an opportunity you’re interested in, like this one from The Michigan Urban Farming Initiative, you can select it from the list on the search page and then click “I’m Interested!” on the opportunity page where you’ll access a form to directly reach out to the organization to express your intention to volunteer with them!
After you fill out the form, the nonprofit will be able to respond to your interest! Happy giving!
