Christmas

Christmas is the time when Christians all over the world join in celebration with their friends and families to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. In the Christian religion, Jesus, God’s only child, was sacrificed for the sins of people and then rose from the dead three days later to ascend to heaven to serve beside his Father, an event commemorated by Easter. At this time of year, it is important to remember Jesus’s lessons of selflessness and sacrifice.
In honor of Christmas this year, we here at SHARE Detroit want to highlight several of the Christian oriented nonprofits we work with and nonprofits that hold special events during the Christmas season. These include Ascension Providence Foundation, Kingdom Presence, Kids Empowered On the Move, Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, Gifts For All God's Children, and DRIVE R&E Family Foundation.
Ascension Providence Foundation, Kingdom Presence, and Catholic Charities all provide aid and services in accordance with religious teachings of charity and goodwill. Gifts For All God’s Children not only provide gifts at Christmas time, they also work year round to make sure children have access to basic hygiene necessities and school supplies. Kids Empowered On the Move provides a sponsor-a-family program for both Christmas and Easter and DRIVE R&E puts on a yearly Holiday Wish List Program wherein they distribute winter gear to children living at or below the poverty level.
