#GivingTuesdayDetroit Nonprofit Winners
While any Tuesday can be a #GivingTuesday, this past November 29th was the official celebration of Giving Tuesday, a day that encourages people to do good. We here at SHARE held a local competition to spread the word about Giving Tuesday in Detroit. Winners of the competition each received $1,000 to continue their important work.
Many of our winners this year work with children on furthering their literacy and education including, Center for Success Network, Developing K.I.D.S., Popcorn and Books, Detroit Institute for Children, and Empower My Future.
Then we have several winners who provide unique experiences in support of healthcare for our vulnerable, including, Camp Casey, which provides horseback riding programs to children with life-threatening illnesses; Therapy Ranch, which similarly provides Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning; Community Treehouse Center Detroit, which provides holistic care to all ages of people living with various disabilities; the Color of Autism Foundation, whose mission focuses on self-efficacy and self-advocacy; and Kevin’s Song, which provides comprehensive information and resources on suicide prevention.
The rest of our winners work towards supporting the community as a whole through a variety of interventions. For example, Centro Multicultural La Familia and CARE of Southeastern Michigan are both hubs of community support. VegMichigan encourages people to adopt a plant-based diet and Friends of the Rouge works to preserve the Rouge watershed. Grandparents On The Move, Inc provides resources that strengthen the family unit, focusing on grandparents as major caregivers. Finally, The Be Kind. Project emphasizes the importance of kindness in our daily lives.
We know each one of these organizations will continue to make an incredible impact with their awards! Visit their pages on our platform at www.ShareDetroit.org and make your contribution to their work.
In addition to recognizing our winners, we also want to extend a huge thank you to our sponsors. First, we have Roger Steed and his 3rd Act blog and podcast, which are both dedicated to helping organizations making a difference. Then we have Wireless Vision, who, in partnership with T-Mobile, promote productivity and passion in their work environment. And finally, Quality Roots, is a community-built cannabis dispensary. Finally, we had two anonymous donors who give but prefer to be unknown. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, we continue to help our nonprofit members give back to the community!
